Smoking Cessation

If you smoke, quitting smoking is the single most important step you can take to improve the length and quality of your life. Stopping smoking can be tough, but you don’t have to quit alone. There are many local options to help you quit for good.  Here are some resources to help start your journey to becoming smoke-free:

ASHline (1-800-55-66-222) – www.ashline.org

Each year, ASHline helps thousands of Arizonans overcome their tobacco addiction. Located in the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health at the University of Arizona and funded by the state tax on tobacco products, the Arizona Smokers’ Helpline (ASHLine) has been helping people quit tobacco since 1995. Free telephone and Web-based quit services, as well as free training and technical assistance to healthcare providers statewide, are provided. Services are also available in Spanish.

Freedom from Smoking (602-258-7505) – www.lung.org

To help adult smokers quit, the American Lung Association offers Freedom From Smoking®. Freedom From Smoking® is available as a group clinic, an online program and a self-help book. Talk to a cessation counselor at the Lung HelpLine at 1-800-LUNG-USA (1-800-586-4872).
